I enjoy painting ‘en plein air’ directly and spontaneously from the Sussex landscape and shoreline, where I now live. I have also painted in Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Dales where I was born and brought up.

I use watercolour, pen and wash, acrylics and occasionally oil and some mixed media.

My passion and inspiration lies with the play of light and weather on the colours of the landscape, and the effect this has on the atmosphere, texture and mood of the painting.

When the weather does not permit painting outdoors I paint still life in my studio or develop larger paintings from my sketchbook work.

My degree is in Printed Textile Design and I studied at Chelsea School of Art, graduating in 1991. I have exhibited in the UK and New York and for the last four years have been part of the Brighton Open Houses Art Festival, Europe’s largest and longest running affordable art event.

Paintings, limited edition prints and cards are available to purchase from this site or by contacting me. You can view my art at my home studio in Hove or by visiting Open Houses and exhibitions – details on the News and Contact pages.
